Yes, that's a pretty common question in areas like California, where basements are either rare or non-existent. Rather than a subfloor, which is often made of plywood or can even be an existing floor, there's a concrete slab.

Concrete concerns

Concrete can be damp, and since luxury vinyl is entirely waterproof, it's not an issue; it's made of vinyl, a waterproof material, and has the capability from bottom to top, meaning it can be submerged or spilled on and still be okay. This is true whether you choose luxury vinyl plank or luxury vinyl tile.

The slab should be dry, level, and clean. Concrete is also cold and hard, so if you are installing it to "float," you may choose to include an underlayment for additional comfort. Be sure to discuss underlayments with our flooring professionals to be sure you get the right one or if you even need it at all.

What is a floating floor?

This is the most common installation method for LVP or LVT. It refers to the pieces clicking together, mat, then hovering over the subfloor without adhesives Although it can also be glued, many prefer this technique as it's fast and uncomplicated. Moreover, the pieces are easy to remove and reinstall, so you can take the floor with you if you move.

About luxury vinyl

An affordable, true-to-life alternative to genuine wood, stone, or tile, all photos are taken with high-definition photography, so you'll see knots, grains, veining variations, and vivid colors and patterns. In addition, they include micro beveling and embossing to add depth, dimension, and textured looks and follow each material's current trends.

With ultra-durability, LVF is five times thicker than original vinyl, with a top, transparent, melamine wear layer that protects the floor from scratches and scuffs. On top of that is a clear urethane finish that provides extra strength and shine. It is also low maintenance, requiring only regular sweeping and periodic mopping.
